Whangateau Estuary. Flounder are such interesting fish - they start life with their eyes on either side of their head like other fish, but as they grow one of their eyes migrates to one side of the head and the whole fish turns its body sideways becoming a 'flatfish'. This makes it an expert at camouflage on both sandy and muddy substrates.
