This course outline incorporates Achievement Standards from Biology, Science and the Social Studies curriculum areas. The actual tasks which have been used for this course are also available on-line under NCEA tasks. The diving Unit Standards were carried out using the local dive shop. The students enjoyed this class due to the field work involved and it’s cross-curricular nature. So use this marine based outline and put in a ‘new course’ proposal at your school - your students will love you for it!
Students use this worksheet to come up with what they think the advantages and disadvantages of aquaculture are. By getting the students to use think, pair, share they actually have to think for themselves initially.
This template is for use with Achievement Standard 1.2 90187. The students can use it to summarise each resource that they use in order to write their Research Report.

This document goes with the task for Achievement Standard Science 1.2 90187. The students use it to write their final Research Report on.
This post box activity is to find out prior knowledge of what the students know about marine topics and about the amount of snorkelling that they have done. Obviously the questions can be changed but whatever they are the students enjoy this little activity because they’re allowed to get up out of their seat and put an answer into each little box in order to answer the question.
